A BRADFORD business of more than 40 years has expanded by moving into a new city centre unit.

SR Carpets & Floors was opened by the Raqib family on Leeds Road way back in 1980.

Whilst it will remain at that location, a second store has opened on Valley Road opposite the Forster Square Retail Park.

The business has been supplying and fitting carpets and floor coverings for decades – “building one of the best reputations in the trade”.

They claim to find the “perfect carpet for you, or simply create a unique flooring solution”.

The new carpet retail shop is open where Carphone Warehouse once sat – in the same retail area as Farmfoods and Home Bargains.

Speaking to the Telegraph & Argus, he said: “I have driven past the building many times. I wanted to expand whilst keeping our roots in Bradford.

“We wanted to remain Bradford proud. It was the perfect site.”

The original Leeds Road shop was opened by Shahid’s mother and father.

When the pair retired, he took the business on and “helped it grow a bit more”.

Shahid feels customers will be able to access the new store more easily.

“We have double yellow lines at the front of the shop and not many customers were aware that we have a car park at the back.

“We thought let’s try our luck for this place and we got it.”

Three weeks later, things have been running smoothly with customers liking what the shop offers.

“We have been known for our value over the last 40 years.

“Our good service is reflected in our reviews. We are good at what we do because we have been doing it for so long.”
